If course, it's not as good as the original BLAIR WITCH, although it's obviously better than that BOOK OF SHADOWS sequel. Director Adam Wingard has showed promise on his previous films YOU'RE NEXT and THE GUEST and in his hands this is a slick and watchable movie.
Some may look at it and see yet another found footage film that does nothing new, but I found it a movie that ties into the first film quite nicely.
Reviewed by Leofwine_draca 6 / 10 A slick Blair Witch for the new generationīLAIR WITCH is an attempt to update THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT for a new generation. I'll give credit to part of the photography team for some pretty nature scenes, but I genuinely didn't care about what happened to any of them let alone the fate of the original three. The only genuinely likeable member of the crew is the very intellectual black kid, and often he seems to be laughing at the others for how ridiculous they are, causing the others to gang up on them. Purple mop haired tweens do the same amount of arguing and cursing while out there and while the filming is technically better when the camera isn't spinning around doesn't make it any more tolerable. It's allegedly several years after the original incident and Heather Donahue's brother James gets a crew to go out with him to the same spot to try to figure out what happened to her. Watching these two phony documentaries together is worse than having all of your wisdom teeth pulled out on the same day, with the camera still ridiculously shaky and the premise unnecessary for a work of fiction. If I never have to hear Blair Witch Project ever again in my life, I will be one happy film connoisseur. Reviewed by mark.waltz 1 / 10 It was annoying enough originally without the vocal fry. Can they escape from the wrath of the demonic Blair Witch? -Nick Riganas
Now, more and more, as James and his team find themselves trapped in the epicentre of the evil activity, the blood-curdling legend of the wicked sorceress seems real. Convinced that she is still alive, he heads into the gloomy forest accompanied by his friend Peter Peter's girlfriend, Ashley the film student, Lisa, and the pair of uploaders, only to go astray in the heart of a green maze. Then, James stumbles upon the video, and-believing that he saw an image of his missing sister, Heather, who disappeared in 1994 in the same woods while investigating the legend of the Blair Witch-he assembles a team of friends in search of answers. After unearthing a DV tape containing intriguing raw footage in Burkittsville's Black Hills Forest, Lane and Talia upload the video on YouTube.
